Voltage declines with use, however, and may be as low as 0.9v when the battery is exhausted.

Alkaline batteries provide excellent power where a full 1.5v per cell is required. Four alkalines produce 6v when fresh (NiCad & NiMh only produce 1.2v so four provide 4.8v).
